Inspired by the historic 1970s film "Painters Painting," Girls' Club presents a mini-documentary interviewing 11 artists from in their studios in Miami, Hollywood, New York and New Jersey. Featured artists include Harumi Abe, Elisabeth Condon, Julie Davidow, Louise Fishman, Joanne Greenbaum, Sharon Horvath, Amy Mahnick, Beatriz Monteavaro, Vickie Pierre, Joan Snyder, and Shoshanna Weinberger. Interviewed and filmed by Girls' Club directors Sarah Michelle Rupert and Michelle Weinberg, the artists share their personal stories, backgrounds, and theories on art, feminism and navigating the art world. The film is edited by artists/film makers Cara E Despain and Kenny Riches.
The catalog, designed by Natalie Zlamalova, features essays from Wanda Texon, Associate Curator, MDC Museum of Art + Design and Ann Landi, arts writer and Vasari21.com blogger, and a new fiction piece by Denise Delgado.
