The Epilepsy Foundation of Florida (EFOF) will host a fundraising event, ‘Unmasking Epilepsy’, on Thursday, October 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Coral Gables Museum (285 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables). It will serve as the organization’s official kick-off to November’s National Epilepsy Awareness Month, an annual period dedicated to educating individuals and communities about epilepsy.
The masquerade event will feature a silent auction, live music by renowned Latin musician Koke Montes, raffles, cocktails sponsored by Bacardi, and hors d’oeuvres. Attendees are encouraged to wear a masquerade mask, which can be purchased at the event. All proceeds from the event will benefit individuals living with epilepsy.
Epilepsy, a common neurological condition that one in 26 people will be diagnosed with at some point in their lives, is a diagnosis given when a person experiences two or more seizures that cannot be attributed to another cause. It is a disorder more people live with than autism, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy – combined.
‘Unmasking Epilepsy’ tickets can be purchased for $50 each, $90 per couple, or $450 for a table of ten. To learn more about the event and register, visit http://www.efof.org/events/unmasking/ or contact EFOF Community Resource Specialist Marisol Valdes at firstname.lastname@example.org.
