Popcorn Frights Film Festival

The North American Premiere of The Bride: Imagine Get Out as directed by Guillermo Del Toro and you’ll just get a taste of this darkly gothic nightmare. A young woman travels with her soon-to-be husband to his family home in the outskirts. She grows increasingly suspicious of his family and their creepy neighbors’ strange behavior and realizes the visit may have been a horrible mistake. In short time, sheer psychological terror overwhelms her as she starts witnessing terrifying visions as his family prepares her for a mysterious ritual ceremony. Preceded by the Florida Premiere of the short film Savor – A man discovers the horrors of dining alone. The North American Premiere of The Hatred: From the producer of Halloween comes the terrifying new feature centering on four young women who travel to their college professor’s new country home for a weekend getaway, only to discover that the house has a malevolent past. Featuring Andrew Divoff (Wes Craven’s Wishmaster), David Naughton (An American Werewolf in London), and Amanda Wyss (A Nightmare on Elm Street). Director Michael G. Kehoe will be in attendance to introduce the film and participate in an extended Q&A afterward. Preceded by the short film Hush - A young college graduate babysits an 8-year-old girl during a terrible storm, only to realize their house is possessed by a malevolent entity. The U.S. Premiere of Dead Shack: Goonies meets Evil Dead and Dead Alive in this fresh horror comedy starring Lauren Holly (The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Dumb and Dumber). What happens when three kids on a weekend getaway are holed up at a run-down cottage in the woods and must save their hard-partying parents from a shotgun-totting psycho who wants to feed them to her slavering zombie? They must arm themselves, toughen up, learn to work together, and bash in zombie skulls or else they’ll end up on their freak-of-a-neighbor’s next family dinner. Preceded by the Florida Premiere of the short film The Cleansing Hour – Two failed filmmakers have found success running a webcast that streams live exorcisms. However, every episode is an elaborately staged hoax, created to dupe their global audience. But, when their latest subject turns out to actually be demon-possessed, they are forced to reckon with their charade live in front of millions of viewers.
