The South Florida Premiere of Dave Made a Maze: A wildly inventive Kaufmanesque horror rom-com that’s brought to life with puppetry, stop-motion animation, and in-camera optical illusions. Dave, an artist who has yet to complete anything significant in his career, builds a fort in his living room out of pure frustration, only to wind up trapped by the fantastical pitfalls, booby traps, and critters of his own creation. Ignoring his warnings, Dave’s girlfriend leads a band of oddball explorers on a rescue mission. Once inside, they find themselves trapped in an ever-changing supernatural world and pursued by a bloodthirsty Minotaur that’s killing them one by one. Preceded by the Florida Premiere of the short film Nightmare – Put on a headset and step inside a frighteningly immersive environment, where all is not as it seems. The Florida Premiere of The Endless: A mind-bending delight from the directors of Spring, The Endless follows two brothers who return to the death cult from which they fled a decade ago and discover that there might be some truth to the group’s otherworldly beliefs. It’s a freaky supernatural horror hybrid that serves up extraordinarily bizarre scenes involving cults, time travel, and some sort of ambiguous Lovecraftian monster that will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat till the end credits. Preceded by the South Florida Premiere of the short film Curve – Clinging to a smooth, curved surface high above an abyss, a girl tries to cover the few feet back to safety without falling to her death. The Florida Premiere of Better Watch Out: Home Alone meets Michael Haneke’s Funny Games in this sadistic horror comedy genre bender that will leave you squealing with glee from start to finish. Just when you thought it was safe to leave your doors unlocked and your windows unbarred, a film like Better Watch Out comes along and completely makes you rethink the home invasion narrative. On a quiet suburban street tucked within a ‘safe neighborhood’, a babysitter (played by The Visit star Olivia DeJonge) must defend a twelve-year-old boy from strangers breaking into the house, only to discover that this is far from a normal home invasion. Writer Zack Kahn will be in attendance to introduce the film! Preceded by the Florida Premiere of the short film A Knock At The Door – Moments after a bloodcurdling scream disrupts a normally peaceful neighborhood, a frantic knocking at one resident’s door triggers events that unknowingly alter his fate forever. The South Florida Premiere of 68 Kill: Fans of Natural Born Killers and Wild At Heart will want to pull out a moon pie and some friend chicken, pop open a Coors Lite, and enjoy this breakneck non-PC pulp noir. This southern-fried caper focuses on infatuated nice guy Chip and his crazy girlfriend, Liza, whose relationship takes a sharp turn into homicide when they try to rob Liza’s sugar daddy – only to end up with two corpses, a hostage, and $68,000 in stolen cash. Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds) and AnnaLynne McCord (90210) incinerate the screen in this crazy thrill-ride that in a breathless blow goes from raw-luck tall tale to a bloodbath comedy. Winner of SXSW 2017 Midnighters Audience Award. Preceded by the Florida Premiere of the short film Fucking Bunnies – Raimo’s comfortable, middle-class bubble is burst when a Satan-worshipping sex cult moves in next door.
