Last Exit: Painting
September 11 – October 10
In 1981 Tom Lawson wrote Last Exit: Painting, an essay putting painters on the defensive, directly holding each artist accountable for using paint as a medium. On the brink of that essay’s 35th anniversary, the Bakehouse is hosting a show based on the same principle. In those 35 years painting has changed a good deal and here is an opportunity to prove painting’s eternal potential.
