    954-431-0918

http://www.clubgabys.com Gaby's has the special ratchet charm that only a dive bar located in a Pembroke Pines strip mall could have. Gaby's features two main rooms, usually host to a range of music nights – everything from live music to reggae and hip-hop – with young and older crowds typically segregating themselves between the two. • Kill Your Idol

    Kill Your Idol

222 Española Way Miami Beach, FL 33139
    305-534-1009

Amid the hip-hop clubs and tourist-trap shops is Kill Your Idols, a whimsically decorated bar on Espanola Way. From Bruce Lee's karate- chopping body protruding from the bar to a '70s Playboy pinball machine next to the retro cigarette dispenser, the décor is a nightmare for anyone with ADD. Chandeliers are made from empty liquor bottles, all the seating is mismatched, and an enormous Ian Curtis illuminates one of the side walls. A WWII blimp and giant astronaut dangle above the tiny dance floor that's packed with sweaty folks grooving to new wave hits and indie beats. The projection screen plays horror movies and music documentaries throughout the night, but after one too many Cherry Bomb shots, it will all look the same. This offbeat watering hole is quickly becoming the place to be, but strictly for the locals-only type of crowd. Read more about this Miami bar or club >>

    Mansion

1235 Washington Ave. Miami Beach, FL 33119
    305-695-8411

http://www.mansionmiami.com If one nightclub epitomizes South Beach fun and excess, it's Mansion. The granddaddy of Beach nightlife is only 6 years old, which proves venues change in Miami as quickly as South Florida weather. Mansion features all the South Beach nightclub staples: strict door policy, pricey cover, and bottle service. But where it excels is booking the hottest electronic dance and hip-hop acts week after week, no matter the time of year. Then there's the opulence of it all: The foyer leads to a small alcove that eventually takes you to the main area. There, the private balcony that hosts ultra-VIPs and celebrities overlooks the main floor. But dance-floor space is limited. Mansion was one of the first clubs to place couches and tables for bottle service directly on the dance floor. Read more about this Miami bar or club >>
