http://www.albamiami.com At this ultra trendy club, floor-to-ceiling windows afford a sweeping view of the Atlantic, and orange decor provides a warm setting for sipping cocktails and lounging with friends. Club music sometimes gives way to rock and Latin, depending on the night. The lounge stages special events, and holds semiprivate parties for birthdays and holidays. It's open 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Sunday during the summer, and nightly during the season. Be prepared to dress up. Read more about this Miami bar or club >>
http://www.avenue29miami.com With its proximity to Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Avenue 29 is Aventura's only nightclub serving liquor until 5 a.m. It attracts an upscale, diverse crowd, from young professionals to college students. The massive 6,000-square-foot space is divided into three sections, each offering complete bottle service and hookahs. Wednesday features a DJ spinning Top 40 mashups; Thursday hosts old-school hip-hop, R&B, and freestyle; and Friday caters to an upscale, urban crowd. Saturday is called "DUI," for "dancing under the influence," and on Sunday, Latin night, the club offers free dance lessons from 7 to 8 p.m. There is no cover and a South Beach vibe minus the prices. http://www.justinsaventura.com Don't let the hardware store next door to Justin's throw you off. The same owners of Karma on South Beach run this place and do a fine job creating an elegant strip-mall hideaway. Though it looks like your rich, eccentric great-aunt decorated the place - questionable area rugs, intriguing art, and two billiard tables - the lounge attracts mostly locals from cities up and down U.S. 1 - North Miami Beach, Sunny Isles, Aventura, Hallandale Beach, and Hollywood. A unique concept and happy hour from 3 to 5 a.m. (in addition to a daily 5 to 9 p.m. happy hour) attract a younger, late-night crowd. Happy hour is free, but a $10 cover for women and $20 cover for men apply after midnight. Show up early for happy hour and stay late for round two. Read more about this Miami bar or club >>
http://www.newportbeachsideresort.com The presentations here are refered to as the oversized, over-the-big-top presentations as "Cirque du Soleil dining." Example one: an appetizer described as "NYC curbside Sabrett hot dog served on pretzel bread with homemade sauerkraut, a side of chips, and a can of Dr. Brown's soda." Michael's Kitchen is all about the show. There are some winners, though, including a main course of crisp, meaty Peking-style duck glossed with orange-based Asian glaze, a juicy wad of plum-glazed salmon cooked on a cedar plank, and a sizable slab of Mongolian baby-back ribs. Accompaniments don't quite hit the spot, but heftily portioned à la carte sides do, especially penne mac and cheese. Richly satisfying, supersweet desserts march to the same whimsical beat as the preceding courses. Some will go for the more-is-more style more than others. Read more about this Miami bar or club >>
For the early birds, the tequila worm is ready and waiting to be caught at The Nightcap Lounge. This North Miami bar opens at 7 a.m., so you can grab a Bloody Mary or a screwdriver for breakfast. Screw cereal, booze does a body good. A favorite for bikers passing through town, the outpost is lined with old-school Dolphins regalia. Bars like this don't come along every day, so the next time you're feeling the sting first thing in the A.M., you've got a new haunt to hit up. Read more about this Miami bar or club >>
http://www.ocean-prime.com Ocean Prime is another notch on the upscale chain restaurant concept, with locations in various Southern cities and part of a larger portfolio of similar restaurants all over the country owned by the same group. As such, you'll be handing over several Andrew Jacksons to dine inside a mall on very safe cuisine that utilizes fresh and premium ingredients, but that would never be mistaken for chef-driven fare from a cutting-edge eatery. The menu goes as basic as a turkey club sandwich ($11) and Caesar salad ($9) and tops at fanciness with truffled deviled eggs ($11). In between, there are classic steakhouse and seafood dishes such as a seven-ounce petite filet mignon ($33) and blackened snapper served with wilted spinach and jalapeño-corn tartar sauce ($35). Sides include very unexciting wild rice pilaf with dried cranberries and almonds ($9) and candied yams -- actually served with marshmallows the way your aunt might do it for thanksgiving ($9). Décor likewise seeks to embody classy-upscale without treading into trendiness. The oversized, circular, orange cloth chandeliers; white tablecloths; and ambient blue lighting offer an elegant anomaly in a busy mall, but you never quite forget where you are. http://www.qrestaurantlounge.com Although this restaurant offers a full menu, the dark interior, slouchy couches, and live music make it obvious the place is meant mainly as a cocktail lounge. Those who would be happiest here enjoy loud environs, lively ambiance, cigar smoke, and scene-y indoor-outdoor spaces to chill with a few friends after work. Food caters to that crowd by consisting of mostly small plates and tapas such as "dips and chips," hummus, olive tapenade, and artichoke dip served with baked pita chips ($6); an assorted cheese platter for two served with guava paste, pine nuts, honey, and grapes ($12); and tequeños, a basket of baked Venezuelan cheese rolls served (strangely) with guacamole ($9). Larger dishes include three types of grilled pizzas, eight sandwiches and wraps, and a handful of chicken and burger choices. Décor consists of clean lines, warm hues, minimally patterned wallpaper, and cool details like an oversized wood clock surrounded by the curlicues of several decals. On nights when there is nice weather, outdoor tables are the most requested seating. And often there is live music on weekends. Read more about this Miami bar or club >>
With a name like Styx Sports Bar, Grill & Pool, it's gotta be good. This North Miami hair metal namesake is where a Mystic Pizza-era Julia Roberts would have hustled her shooting skills, racking 'em up and laying it down. And if you follow in her footsteps, while wielding sticks with the best of 'em, you can chow down on ribs, wings, fries and other greasy goodies. Even if you get played, you should still have enough leftover to pay off your surprisingly cheap bar tab. Read more about this Miami bar or club >>
http://florida.swingingrichards.com Make no mistake, this moniker is entirely literal. A trip to Swinging Richards will reveal more swinging, gyrating, helicoptering schlong then you ever thought possible. Everywhere you turn, dick, dong, one-eyed monsters, on full, fleshy display. From buffed up dudes to short and skinny, the dancers run the gamut, but all go full frontal when they take the stage. Gay porn plays on screen, and dancers often disappear behind the curtains with wide-eyed patrons. But remember ladies, this is primarily a spot for gay male patrons - so no bachelorette bacchanalia or wild antics. Women are welcome, but bringing a dude in tow is definitely recommended. The cover ranges from $10 to $15 depending on the night, and they've got food and plenty of booze. So pay your friend Dick a visit. His drinks aren't the only things that are stiff. http://www.thewaterclubmiami.com The Water Club occupies a 27,500-square-foot renovated space in North Miami Beach formerly home to Shooters. It offers lovely views of the Intracoastal and dock space for 50 boats. The menu - created by former Top Chef contestant Andrea Curto-Randazzo and husband Frank Randazzo, who co-owned Talula - relies on applying twists to American classics, from raw-bar items and burgers to five cuts of steak. There's a wine lounge, an indoor dining room, a lounge, and an indoor bar with several flat-screen TV sets. The best seats in the house, however, are on the outdoor deck, which features a second bar and a swimming pool complete with cabanas. Appetizers run from $9 to $14 and include a starter of steamed top neck clams and Prince Edward Island mussels nicely flavored by a broth of beer and citrus. There are also sandwiches, including a house-smoked pastrami with chicken liver pté and Gruyère, and the "hang-over" burger, which is topped with a fried egg. Entrées ($14 to $22) consist of three fish, two chicken, one pork, and two pasta dishes, as well as the meat. The eatery offers many options, but it works best as a place to sit outside with a burger and a cold brew while watching boats sail into the sunset. Read more about this Miami bar or club >>
http://www.wherehousenmb.com This non traditional party and event space is fully muralized within. Every inch of floor, wall, and even ceiling space is covered in paint. Although it is not a traditional club, the Wherehouse regularly throws events of all kinds. The facility is available for rental and hosts everything for Bar Mitzvahs to Superbowl parties. It is a visually exciting place for good times. Read more about this Miami bar or club >>
