Beetlejuice at Downtown Dadeland. This week, Downtown Dadeland's Movie in the Street is getting spooky with your middle-school goth-phase inspiration. The best way to revel in this seasonal glory is to grab a pumpkin spice latte, settle under the stars, and cozy up to fellow appreciators of the slightly morbid, mostly whimsical world of the undead in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Dead Rappers Society at Blackbird Ordinary. Every Thursday and Friday, Blackbird Ordinary now hosts concerts, an excellent addition to the Brickell bar scene, otherwise known for overpriced cocktails and a glitzy view. The Monster Ball at Ball & Chain. Have you always wanted to see your favorite vintage ghouls performing a choreographed dance in the flesh? Frankenstein and his bride, the Sanderson Sisters (from the film classic Hocus Pocus), Dracula, and other creepy creatures are the focus of the Ball & Chain production Monster Ball. Downtown Fright Night. The best part about a midweek Halloween is that the holiday is stretched out over several days. So starting your celebration this weekend is more than appropriate. Downtown Fright Night is your best bet, especially if there are some kiddos you'd like to take out, because the event includes trick-or-treating, a magic show, and face painting. Electric Beach at America’s Backyard. Fort Lauderdale might pale in comparison to the Magic City in terms of parties, but that doesn't mean our Broward counterparts can't get loose. But the best part is you won't have to pay a crazy cover to enjoy a decent day party. Paranormal Zine Tour at the Alfred I. duPont Building. If you're looking a more direct encounter with the dark and mysterious, investigate some real-life horror. Constructed in 1937, the Alfred I. duPont Building has plenty of history, which always carries more than a few ghostly opportunities. Not Your Standard Boo-ngo at the Standard. For the best bingo you wouldn't bring your grandma to, Sundays at the Standard Spa with Shelley Novak is a no-brainer.
