Phuc Yea, Miami's original pop-up that drew crowds five years ago, is finally coming full circle when its permanent rendition opens this Thursday, September 1, at 7100 Biscayne Blvd., in the ever-growing MiMo District.
The announcement comes on the heels of co-owners Aniece Meinhold and Cesar Zapata's closing of their other restaurant, the Fed. The Fed began as the Federal Food Drink & Provisions and was featured on Bravo's Best New Restaurant.
Phuc Yea will offer Viet-Cajun cuisine with an emphasis on seafood. Viet-Cajun is a mashup of Vietnamese and Cajun flavors popular in Houston and New Orleans, where the cities' large Vietnamese populations melded with traditional Southern and Cajun flavors.
Though the menu isn't set, expect favorites from the 2011 pop-up, such as Mamma T's imperial rolls ($9), grilled pork riblets ($10), caramel lobster (MP), and caja china cola duck ($24). In addition, a wok station will allow for bespoke dishes that combine a choice of seafood with a preferred sauce.
A cold station will offer dishes such as green papaya and mango salad with dried shrimp ($10) and smoked beef tartare with quail egg and Asian pear ($14).
The restaurant also includes a lobby lounge with a 15-foot raw bar where patrons can sip the signature cocktail, the Saigon Street Tea — a classic milk punch made with Ron Zacapa, yogurt liqueur, and JoJo's chai tea with boba pearls. Other cocktails are the lychee sour and the La Belle Fille, a take on the cosmo with hibiscus and rosewater. A full dining room and a "garden lantern" lounge provide additional options.

Hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., Friday from 11:30 a.m. to midnight, Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Happy hour is Thursday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., and brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A Thursday late-night happy hour is in the works.
