Brickell City Centre, the billion-dollar Swire megadevelopment under construction, has Miami abuzz. Maybe a little too abuzz. Today the blog Miami Luxury Homes posted a story claiming the project had misspelled the word "Brickell" on its façade.

The story quickly went viral, at least by local standards.

Turns out this is what happens when you fire fact-checkers.

Here's the thing about under-construction buildings: They're under construction — meaning they're not yet completed.

In fact, here's a rendering of what Brickell City Centre will look like when it is completed. You'll notice there's a lot of panelling on the building that hasn't been installed yet. If you look closely, you'll notice the second "L" is planned to appear on a panel that extends out slightly past the edge of the corner of the building. That panel isn't there yet.

"The project is an active construction site. There are still panels left to be installed," confirms a spokesperson for Swire Properties.

So I guess you could say this proves Miami isn't as dumb as the story would make it seem, but then again, the story went viral in the first place. Eh, everyone makes mistakes.

Update: It's also worth noting that the Miami Luxury Homes blog is run by Michael Light, a Douglas Elliman real-estate broker.
