In a shopping plaza in North Miami that features two favorites, Ricky's Thai Bistro and Vega's Burgers, a new star is born. Open for less than two months, Fresh Juice King is your best bet for refreshing juices, smoothies, and friendly service.

Perhaps you tried their healthful slurpable concoctions before at a bevy of farmer's markets across South Florida. Although, at this brick-and-mortar location your fruit and vegetable dreams are made beyond a once a week timetable.

There are plenty of already created menu items named to tackle your alignments: smooth skin and hangover juices, pre-workout and post-workout smoothies, and, our favorite, create your own.

The issue with creating your own is that all of your favorites fruits and vegetables don't always work together once in the blender. For instance, while we adore grapefruit, when combined with other produce it doesn't play as nicely as we'd like. Fresh Juice King's own Belkys Badia is happy to help and says she sells a juice with grapefruit, orange and tangerine sometime at the farmer's market and it can be sweetened up a bit with apple or pineapple. We chose the latter and got a drink that is a true burst of sunshine.

The prices are also extremely reasonable when compared to those of certain cold-pressed juice joints in town: $5.95 for a 16-ounce, $6.95 for a 20-ounce, and $7.95 for a 24-ounce juice or smoothie. They also boast no water, no sugar, no syrup, and no milk added. If you want milk they have soy, almond, coconut, and skim milk available upon request.

Badia also let us know that next month they will be adding something a bit more solid to the menu: salads, sandwich, and wraps.

We can't wait to try more of her healthful and heartfelt creations.
