Miami has several restaurants that are out of your price range. So when meal deals such as Miami Spice and Coral Gables Restaurant Week come around, you pounce like a hungry, salivating lion on a wounded gazelle.

Fortunately, there's one good deal you won't have to hunt for. Largely unknown but worth traveling for is the happy-hour menu at DB Bistro Moderne. Every Monday through Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., you can sample some of the best cuisine at reduced prices. Don't get us wrong -- even during happy hour, no one will mistake DB for a cut-rate diner. But with astounding food, exemplary service, and one of the sweetest views in town, it's worth checking out.

We highly recommend the beef sliders ($13), with Gruyère, caramelized onions, lettuce, and tomato. These are mini bites of heaven. The chicken wings ($9) are also amazing -- juicy on the inside and crisp on the outside.

There are also empanadas ($8), filled with spicy chicken and served with a smoked paprika aioli and the DB Mezze ($8), a platter of baba ghanoush, hummus, and tzatziki served with warm, freshly made pita bread.

If you're feeling baller, order the share-and-taste charcuterie board ($29 small, $59 large), which comes with a divine selection of terrines and cured meats. The terrine is out of this world. At restaurants such as this one, even the fries are worth mentioning, but of course called garlic pommes frites ($7) and generously sprinkled with fresh Parmesan and herbs.

You can choose three small plates for $19, and on Wednesdays, you can choose a cocktail-and-appetizer pairing for $15. If you live nearby, take advantage of this deal often. But even you don't, it's worth the drive.
