Migration Week, during which renowned Chicago brewery Goose Island commits a tap takeover at three Miami restaurants, starts today at the Butcher Shop and ends Thursday at Biscayne Tavern.
The Goose Island three-day tap takeover offers beer buffs and budding suds students alike the chance to try several of the Midwest brewery's signature ales for the first time. We spoke with Ryan Forrest, the Tavern's general manager, about Migration Week's closing event as well as other planned tap takeovers at the Downtown Miami gastropub.
Forrest is excited about Thursday's event. "Biscayne Tavern jumped at the opportunity to be just one of several South Florida destinations to team up with Goose Island during Migration Week to share with downtown residents rare beers brewed and generally distributed only in Chicago."

Goose Island produces seasonal and year-round craft beers and has been awarded several bronze, silver, and gold medals at the World Beer Cup. Many of Goose Island's signature suds will be available on Thursday, including its Lolita 2013, Bourbon County Barleywine 2013, Illinois Imperial IPA, 312 Pale Ale, Endless IPA, Sofie-Saison, and Matilda Belgian Pale Ale.
Local beer connoisseurs will also have the rare opportunity to sample two of Goose Island's special limited release beers, Rasselbock and Bourbon County Stout, as well as the brewery's most popular ale, the 312 Urban Wheat, the 2008 gold medal winner of the World Beer Cup's "English Style Summer Ale" category.
Forrest is also working with local brew masters to offer Biscayne Tavern patrons the chance to taste some of Miami's best craft beers throughout the year.
"With the huge growth and popularity of craft beers over the past years, Biscayne Tavern will work closely with a number of local breweries to offer the opportunity to try a variety of beers that will be offered with our monthly tap takeover events," adds Forrest. "Each month we will be inviting a different brewery in to allow them to showcase their beers."
