This weekend marks the unfortunate end of stone crab season. Now is the time when generous humans hold back from decimating the crab population by giving those little suckers time to regenerate; so it's your last chance to nab some claws. A feeding frenzy is taking place tomorrow at the ONE Bal Harbour Resort, where George's is hosting an all-you-can-eat crab extravaganza.
Pegged as a "sunset soiree," the event is taking over the restaurant's terrace, cuz nothing says romance like a meal comprised of messy self-serve seafood. From 4 to 8 p.m., gorge on all the claws you can crack for $75, not exactly a steal, but the more room in your stomach, the better the deal. Traditional side offerings include smashed potatoes, heirloom tomato salad and coleslaw. For the price, you may want to just keep your eye on the prize.
Not in the mood to travel to the burbs for your crabby fix? You can always head to Joe's
for the "Classic" platter ($35.95), which includes the famous
hashbrowns, creamed spinach, slaw and four claws, with a slice of key
lime pie for dessert.
Or head over to the newest Truluck's on Brickell, where the claws come from their very own fisheries in Naples ($18 - $54, depending on size).
Monty's
will charge you whatever the hell they want to, oh the joy of market
pricing. The good news is that if you head over for their generously
timed happy hour today, from 4 to 10 p.m., you'll spend only $4 per claw.
