In honor of man's best friend and a great cause, Lokal is introducing the first ever Yappy Hour today. Yappy hours are a thing in Fort Lauderdale and basically invites your dog to drink with you at happy hour. OK, so maybe your dog doesn't drink but he keeps you company.

From 5 to 7:30 p.m. today, five dollars will get you a golden beer ticket to Florida kegs that can't be found anywhere else (not even at the breweries providing them) except Lokal. Because of the restaurant's close relationship with brewers, the pet-friendly and environmentally conscious burger-and-beer neighborhood joint is able to get these rare releases.

Those is attendance will be able to sip on Funky Buddha's French Oak Hop Gun, Wynwood Brewing Company's Nutty Blonde Ale, and beer from Due South. There's no limit to how many tickets you can get, but once a keg is tapped out it's, well, tapped out.

Beer snobs well know how rare some of these releases are. Like One Across the Bow, which Due South Brewery makes only once a year (now), and is only available for about a month. And tonight not only can you have it for five bucks, but you can do so while spending quality time with your mutt as he (or she) indulges in complimentary, all natural dog treats. Does it get any better than that?

Sort of. Additional brews include Cigar City, Tequesta, and new kid on the block MIA Brewing. There will also be a silent auction where gift baskets from Funky Buddha, Wynwood Brewing, Due South, Halo Pets and Stella will be distributed. Many of these baskets include bottles from exclusive bottle releases, growlers and gift cards to the respective breweries. Insider tip: you might want to bid on Funky Buddha's basket, which among other things has bottles of Maple Bacon Coffee Porter, Nib Smuggler, and Blueberry Cobbler.

Although there is no limit to how many $5 drink tickets can be purchased per person, the catch is they must be used by 7:30 p.m. (so drink up). And the best part of this whole shindig (besides all the awesome beer and doggy treats) is that absolutely all proceeds go towards Recycla-Bull Terrier Rescue. This is a non-profit organization that saved 103 bull terriers in 2013 and 58 and counting this year. If you're familiar with bull terriers, you know they are a handful, and thus many of them end up in animal shelters where they don't last any longer than five days. Recycla-Bull Terrier Rescue has rescued every single bull terrier that's been left in an animal shelter this year.

Lokal hopes this is one of many similar events to come to the Coconut Grove neighborhood and Miami.

So grab your pooch and head over to LoKal tonight where you can indulge in the best craft beer our state has to offer. While you're at it, order a burger and maybe something for your pup from the doggy menu.
