The good-looking Midtown eatery opened this past October to mixed reviews. Prices were high, noodles were soggy, and broths needed some serious work. After our First Bites, we heard the eatery would be tweaking the menu. A few weeks have passed since then, and the menu listing is now devoid of all ramen.
The restaurant's new approach includes sashimi, sushi rolls, and something they refer to as "raw specials." These offerings feature tuna tataki, hamachi citrus with ponzu and jalapeño, and the other usual suspects. There are also options served in small-plates fashion -- chicken lettuce wraps, pork belly bun, and crispy bok choy.
My thoughts? Ramen in Midtown was interesting. As for another small-plates Japanese concept, well, I can't help but let go of a yawn.
Short Order called the restaurant and its representatives to ask whether ramen will be making a comeback. We haven't heard back, but will keep you posted as we learn more.
