Game of Thrones is much more than a cable television show. The series has turned into an international phenomenon, with rabid fans, critical acclaim... and beer.

Ommegang Brewery in Cooperstown, New York, released its first Game of Thrones-inspired beer last year in collaboration with HBO, with Iron Throne Blonde Ale selling out within minutes as beer lovers and fans of the series clamored to get their hands on a taste.

This year, Ommegang has released their second beer in the Game of Thrones line, Take the Black Stout, a Belgian dark ale. Fire and Blood Red Ale, the third offering, is scheduled for a Spring 2014 release.

Inspired by the Brotherhood of the Night's Watch, Take the Black Stout's label depicts the blood-red crowned Weirwood tree where Jon Snow recited his oath.

But, don't let labels fool you. This is no throwaway novelty. Ratebeer.com gave Take the Black stout 95 points, describing it as "clean hop bitterness joins with slight woody character and spiciness; the finish offers sweet malt character leading to spicy, earthy, hop bitterness."

Though this offering is as challenging to find as the first Ommegang Game of Thrones brew, Miamians will have the opportunity to try it at Rok:Brgr's Winter is Coming four-course dinner on Wednesday, December 18, at 8 p.m.

The dinner, in collaboration with Ommegang, costs $55 per person, and each course is paired with rare Game of Thrones beer and other fine brews from Ommegang. The menu includes:

First Course: Ommegang BPA & Ommegang Adoration, paired with choice of kale salad with candied pecans, sunflower seeds, and mandarin oranges or Brussels sprouts with bacon truffle and pecorino romano.

Second Course: Scythe & Sickle Abbey Ale, paired with choice of Duroc pork belly candied bacon or spicy lamb ribs with Boylan's root beer glaze.

Third Course: Rare Vos amber ale & Three Philosophers, paired with choice of pulled pork sliders or Ommegang burger on a pretzel bun

Dessert: Take the Black Stout & Chocolate Indulgence, paired with choice of vanilla creme brulee or chocolate soufflé.

To reserve a place at the table, you don't need to slay a dragon. Just call Rok:Brgr at 305-663-6099 or email [email protected].
