There are two kinds of people in Miami today: those who are working on this glorious Columbus Day and with nothing much to look forward to besides lunch and those who have the day off and thus need somewhere to revel.

Either way, the week starts now and the forecast includes an omakase dinner with chef Katsuya Uechi himself, a J. Wakefield beer dinner at Michael Mina 74, and one-dollar stone crabs.

Monday

Save the Tatas and Eat Something

There's no better way than to kick back and celebrate a day off than by paying a visit to one of your favorite restaurants that also happens to be doing something good for the community. For the month of October, which happens to be National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, many local favorites such as Mignonette, Scarpetta, and DB Bistro are showing their support by donating a portion of proceeds to fight breast cancer.

To find out just who and what they are offering, check out the full listing Breast Cancer Awareness Month restaurant offers.

Tuesday

Omakase Dinner with Chef Katsuya Uechi at Katsuya

Chef Katsuya Uechi is in town and he's cooking up a family-style omakase dinner at Katsuya on Tuesday. It includes edamame gyoza, house-smoked red salmon, miso sea bass with wild Japanese mushrooms kurubota pork robata, and sushi and sashimi straight from Japan's Tsukiji fish market. Starts at 7 p.m. and $65 per person.

Gratis Wine Tasting at Whole Foods Coral Gables

Sonoma Valley produces some of the best wine in the country. Some even say it has far better vineyards than its neighboring Napa Valley. Well tonight, CEO of B.R Cohn Daniel Cohn will bring his critically acclaimed cabernet, chardonnay, merlot and pinot noir from Sonoma Valley to the Whole Foods in Coral Gables. B.R Cohn is one of the few remaining family-owned-and-operated estate wineries in the valley. Along with pouring gratis vino, Cohn will also be giving attendees a taste of award-winning olive oil and vinegar. We imagine with some sort of complimentary bites. It would be weird to drink olive oil with a glass of wine. Shenanigans are happening from 5 to 7 p.m.

Wednesday

Free Cafecito at 3:05

Word around town is many events like the one Wednesday are going to be happening in the Arts & Entertainment District otherwise known as downtown. There will be free fuel and sweet bites to get you through the middle of the week. Think gluten and guilt free treats from Bunnie Cakes, and java from Aroma Espresso. Our fave: The place? The Filling Station Lofts (1650 North Miami Ave.). The catch? It's at 3:05.

J. Wakefield Beer Dinner at Michael Mina 74

J. Wakefield Brewing is on the verge of opening in Wynwood, but this Wednesday you'll be able to sip on brews while chowing down on five-courses from Michael Mina 74 chef de cuisine Thomas Griese. On the menu: hamachi sashimi, kabucha squash soup, squab with black truffles, roasted venison saddle, and passionfruit panna cotta. The feast is $135 per person inclusive of tax and gratuity and seats must be purchased in advance through Digest Miami. https://digestmiami.wufoo.com/forms/qcb9fji0zx02gi/

Thursday

One-Dollar Stone Crab at My Ceviche

Stone crab season began yesterday, which means today is when restaurants start getting the tasty crustacean in. So to celebrate, all My Ceviche locations are practically giving away five medium stone crabs per customer. OK, so they are a dollar each, but still. It's the longest five dollars is likely to get you in the stone crab department say, ever. Claws are fresh off the boat from My Ceviche's sister company, George Stone Crab. Probably want to get there early. We have a feelings these are going to fly.

War of the Wines at Steak 954

Might be worth taking a trek up to Fort Lauderdale where the battle of the wine-ing continues Thursday at Steak 954, this time Bordeaux. Are you a left bank person or a right bank person? Find out through the course of a five-course dinner in which each dish comes with two glasses of vino (one right, one left). Dishes include charred broccolini with burrata, slow cooked lamb shank and walnut baklava. Tickets for the war cost $100, exclusive of tax and gratuity. Festivities start at 7 p.m.
