An 84-year-old woman walking home from the grocery store was stuck and killed by a bus last night in Aventura, just one block from her own home. The incident happened around 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of 199th Street and NE 29th Place.

The victim has been identified as Barbara Rubenstein.

Her son-in-law tells NBC Miami, that Rubenstein had gone to see a movie earlier in the day at Aventura Mall, and then decided to stop at the Publix afterwards.

Family members had talked to Rubenstien earlier in the day, but became concerned when she didn't answer her cellphone. The son-in-law then noticed the flashing lights around the accident scene and asked if a pedestrian was involved. When police informed him that there was he quickly realized that it was his mother-in-law.

No one else was injured, but Miami-Dade transit officials have released few other details.
