Once again, the University of Miami's women's basketball team is a third seed in the NCAA tournament, and once again President Barack Obama has snubbed them. Just like last year, the president predicts the Lady Canes will make a second round exit against a sixth seed team, this time at the hands of Rutgers. Well, to his credit, last year he was correct.
Obama unveiled his women's tournament bracket on ESPN this morning, and he predicts the 'Canes will beat 14th seeded Idaho St in the first round, but thinks that the Canes will lose to sixth seed Rutgers.
It's something of a ballsy pick. The Hurricanes finished 9th in the postseason AP poll, while Rutgers were 23rd. The two teams actually met in the regular season, and the 'Canes managed to pull out 92-81 double-overtime win.
Though, the 'Canes did find themselves embarrassingly out after their first game in the ACC tournament after a loss to Wake Forrest. Rutgers managed to win at least one game in the Big East tourney.
We're also not so sure about his political reasoning. Florida will, as always, be a big swing state in November, but looking at his men's and women's brackets, he's not showing the state a lot of love.
