It sits on the small, white shelf at South Beach Body Waxing salon on Washington Avenue and 13th Street, sandwiched between the tubes of French “pleasure enhancement gel” and a row of fruity lotions.

“We probably sell about two to three per week,” says Julissa Saragoza, Body Waxing’s receptionist, “and we get at least one person asking about it every single day.”

See, inside this flesh and white-color box that stands a mere two inches tall is purportedly the most sought-after product for what is poised to become America’s latest beauty must-have: Anal Bleaching cream.

The bleaching of the bunghole, people, is neither urban legend nor solely for porn stars readying for a spanking close-up. You, too, can make your wink pink; all it takes is $50 and daily applications of South Beach Skim Solution’s “lightening gel for sensitive areas.”

Its creator, Miami Beach resident William Kercher, launched the cream online about nine months ago, after a year-long stint with researchers perfecting the recipe. “People thought I was out of my mind,” says Kercher, who first heard about the idea two years ago on TV’s Dr. 90210. “but I knew there was a market out there.”

He now sells his product online and in twenty salons around the world, but claims most of the buyers aren’t applying anally.

“It’s a skin lightening cream you can use for age spots on the face, underarms,” he says. “I’ve had thousands of pregnant women contact me wanting to use it on their genitals that I guess become discolored with pregnancy.”

Although Kercher refuses to say how much he’s made from sales of the product, or exactly how many he’s sold, he claims it has become a viable business and his sole source of income.

He really should thank his mom: “I tested out all the prototypes on her, she was my guinea pig," he said. "Moms will do things for you no-one else will!” --Joanne Green
