Earlier today, NBA player Jason Collins made history as the first active athlete in a major American sports league to come out as a gay. Just hours later, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Mike Wallace was just the latest athlete to come out as an idiot.

The reaction on Twitter has been swift and snarky.

Wallace quickly deleted his Tweets and issued something of an apology.

Never said anything was right or wrong I just said I don't understand!! Deeply sorry for anyone that I offended

Wallace is one of the Dolphins' key off season acquisitions. He signed a five-year contract with the team worth $60 million with the team last month. We'll see if he loses at least some of that money to a fine.
