No matter our differences, most Miamians can usually agree on one thing: we hate having to deal with Miami International Airport. Yet, as can be said in many cases, at least we're not New Jersey. Newark Airport has 40 of the nations one hundred most-delayed flights flying into or out of its runways. Meanwhile, MIA only has seven.

The Wall Street Journal reports on America's one hundred most delayed flights. Delays are defined as a flight taking off more than 30 minutes after schedule.

The highest flight on the list taking off out of Miami is American Airline's 8:20 p.m. flight to LaGuardia Airport in New York City. That flight is delayed 39.29 percent of the time for an average of 56 minutes. That makes it the 39th most delayed flight in America.

In fact, flying between Miami and New York City seems to be a pain.

The 8:35 p.m. JFK to MIA flight on AA is the 52nd most delayed flight. It's delayed 37.17 percent of the time for an average of 73 minutes. The problem just isn't with American Airlines, either. The 3:05 p.m. Delta Flight from MIA to JFK comes in at 55, with delays 37.12 percent of the time with an average of 63 minutes.

Flying between Chicago and MIA can also be a pain. The 7:40 p.m. AA flight between Chicago O'Hare and MIA is 59th with flight delays expected 36.64 percent of the time for an average of 98 minutes. The 7:30 pm AA flight from MIA to O'Hare isn't much better, ranking 79th. Delays happen 35.85 percent of the time for 73 minutes on average.

Two other flights involving MIA also make the list:

  • American Eagle's 7:35 p.m. flight from Charlotte Douglas International Airport and MIA is delayed 36.43 percent of the time for 65 minute on average.

  • AA's 5:25 p.m. flight from MIA to San Juan Luis is delayed 36.23 percent of the time for an average of 69 minutes.
Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International airport meanwhile has no departing flights on the list. Though two FLL-bound flights do make the list, but they originate from LaGuardia and, you guessed it, Newark. We may not be as dysfunction free as Broward (Ha!), but at least we're not Jersey.
