We're not sure what the editors of Vogue would think, but the Global Language Monitor has an interesting ranking of the world's top fashion hot spots. The Austin, Texas-based company used its Predictive Quantities Index to make the list, a measure that, according to GLM's website, is "a proprietary algorithm that tracks words and phrases in print and electronic media, on the Internet and throughout the blogosphere. The words and phrases are tracked in relation to their frequency, contextual usage and appearance in global media outlets." It's always interesting when math and language nerds collide with fashionistas.

Miami surged this year, claiming the 13th spot on the list. That's up 13 places from last year. GLM credits this to the city's recent dominance in swimwear. We're so close to the top ten, guys. Surely we can knock off Las Vegas, which sits at number ten.

The only city to see a bigger bump than Miami was São Paulo, Brazil, which climbed 25 spots into the bottom half of the top ten. Elsewhere, Milan knocked off New York City for the top spot, after the Big Apple's five-year run.
