First there was the human stew discovered in a bucket behind the Egg and U diner in Fort Lauderdale. Then there was the head found in another bucket a few days later in Dania Beach and the male torso spotted inside a storage container near the Country Club of Miami.

Now police have announced the arrest of 51-year-old Davie resident Jamie Saffran in connection to the murder.

Fort Lauderdale police Sgt. Frank Sousa announced Tuesday that Saffran has been charged with one count of murder. Sousa said Saffran and the victim -- whose name hasn't been released yet because police are still contacting family members -- were acquaintances.

Police spent much of Tuesday searching through Saffran's house on SW 57th Street in Davie.

According to CBS4, Saffran's neighbors were startled by the arrest.

"It's creepy," Jenny Muniz told the TV station. "It's very bizarre to think that somebody like that was living right across the street from us. I'm hoping this is the only time he's done something like that. It looked completely out of character for them."
