The big "Sex and the City" opening kerfuffle has come and gone, and despite dire reviews from film critics (Roger Ebert’s was my personal fave), those four hot cougars went on to top the box office, doubling ticket sale expectations.
In Miami, the opening weekend brought galas openings, enormous crowds, and like a cosmo hangover, the glorious haze of girliness drifts on into this week. So if you don’t just want to see Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda on screen, we say, why not take it a step further? The Van Michael Miami Salon is offering four salon beauty packages in homage to the blockbuster’s main ladies, and you should hurry up and book one – the special only runs through June 12.
Are you a Miranda? Despite her being our least fave of the fab foursome, her makeover sounds kinda pretty -- a red hair color, cut and blow dry, followed by a “simple natural make-up application with hints of pale pinks” for $185. The Charlotte is super preppy, natch -- deep shine conditioning treatment and hand and neck massage, bronzy makeup with a nude lip for an affordable $125. Surprisingly, Charlotte’s the cheapest of the bunch. Our fave, Samantha, will cost ya $165, for a wild, tousled, sex kitten look with partial highlights, blow dry and style. And we’re wondering if this is a press release typo – “to finish the look, makeup artists will paint the lips red with colorful eye shadow.” Huh? Carrie suits our style best – the diary narrating Doogie Howser-esque protagonist’s style comes with a romantic curly hair cut with partial highlights, an expert blow dry and style and a light aromatherapy neck massage, and dramatic, smoky eye makeup for $165.
