What's that old cliché? A sunny place for shady people? Well, we've heard it applied to various locales, but we think Florida definitely epitomizes it, and the Daily Beast agrees. The prolific list makers ranked each U.S. state on corruption, and Florida came in sixth.
Tennessee, Virginia, Mississippi, Delaware and North Carolina out dirtied us, but the Sunshine State sure has a lot to be shameful for. We came in sixth for racketeering and extortion, 12th for public corruption and 13th for embezzlement. Our best showing was 21st place for most corrupt state in the forgery and counterfeiting category.
If you're looking for the least shady state, the Daily Beast recommends moving to New Hampshire. However, we can't guarantee that it's anywhere near as sunny.
