Tania deLuzuriaga has reportedly left her position as a reporter at The Boston Globe.

"Tania deLuzuriaga has resigned to pursue other opportunities," said a Globe spokesperson to Poynter Online.

DeLuzuriaga had earlier covered education from October 2006 to September 2007 for The Miami Herald. During that time she allegedly carried on a flirtatious and possibly sexual relationship with then Assistant Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, a 44 year old married man. When Carvalho was named Superintendent earlier this month copies of e-mails were sent out to various media outlets indicating an improper relationship between the two. Our own Francisco Alvarado made those emails public on Riptide. Besides some dirty talk about not shaving and glazing pieces, the emails also appear to discuss how Carvalho was upset with deLuzuriaga for stories she had written at the Herald.

The nature of her relationship with Carvalho violated a basic tenant of journalism, best voiced by former New York Times managing editor A.M. Rosenthal: "you can fuck an elephant if you want to, but if you do you can't cover the circus."
