'Tis the season for former speakers of the state house to run to the right of front runners in Republican primaries it seems. Marco Rubio is already in an uphill battle in the senate primary against Charlie Crist, and now March on Politics reports that former speaker and state Senator Dan Webster is considering entering the governor's race.

Their source says Webster is about 60% sure he'll enter the race against Attorney General Bill McCollum. Webster, a Baptist, represented a western portion of Orange County and surrounding counties in the Senate, and has strong social conservative credentials. To give you an idea, he endorsed Mike Huckabee in the 2008 presidential primary.

Webster also served as senate Majority Leader after Miami senator Alex Villalobos was demoted from the job.
