Miami is often compared with the Wild West, thanks to our frontier spirit, our home at the very edge of the country and, of course, the fact that the our town is full of crazy people with guns. The 305's latest Butch Cassidy-esque gunfight went down last night at the MegaCutz barbershop in Allapattah, where a gunman burst in off a motorcycle and starting firing at a man getting his hair trimmed. Of course, that man was also armed, so he grabbed his gun and started blasting back from the barber chair.

Miraculously, no bystanders were hit in the shootout. The motorcycle-riding gunman, though, was killed.

Update: Police have released surveillance video of the shootout. Click through to watch.

The melee went down around 7 p.m. last night at the MegaCutz near the corner of NW 36th Street and 17th Avenue, says Keandra Simmons, a spokeswoman for the Miami Police Department.

A man on a black bike roared up to MegaCutz, hopped off and came into the shop firing at a single customer inside the crowded barbershop, she says.

That customer -- who had a concealed weapons permit -- started shooting back; witnesses tell The Miami Herald they heard at least eight rounds exchanged.

When the dust cleared, the motorcycle-rider was dead and the customer was seriously wounded.

Police still haven't released the names of either man involved, nor have they disclosed a murder for the shootout, but more information should be coming out later this morning. We'll update this post when we learn more.
