With Randy Shannon at the helm, the University of Miami's football team may not have won any titles -- but it did keep its nose clean, with zero player arrests since 2007. That's one record that new coach Al Golden's regime has already shattered.

Ramon Buchanan, a senior linebacker from Melbourne, was arrested Friday in Coconut Grove and charged with two felonies. Golden has suspended Buchanan and pronounced himself "disappointed."

Update: According to a police report obtained by Riptide, Buchanan was arrested after drunkenly fighting officers at Fat Tuesdays. Police say he tried to head butt one officer, spit on another, and said, "I'm a UM football player and I don't give a fuck what you do. I'll get out of it. Fuck the police."

According to the arrest report, two City of Miami officers arrested Buchanan around 1:30 in the morning on Friday after he "caused a disturbance" in the men's restroom at Fat Tuesdays.

When an officer asked him to leave the restaurant, police say Buchanan said, "Fuck you, I ain't leaving!"

The cops took Buchanan to a security room where the football player kept resisting. He charged one officer, and after he was pinned to wall, began "thrashing" and tried to head butt another cop.

Earlier post: Details on the arrest are sparse. Riptide has requested a police report from the City of Miami PD, and we'll update this post when it's available.

Here's what we know: Buchanan, who is 21 years old, was booked sometime on Friday in the Grove and eventually charged with two felonies -- resisting an officer with violence and battery of a police officer or firefighter -- along with three misdemeanor counts of trespassing, resisting without violence and disorderly conduct.

Buchanan was fifth on the 'Canes in tackles last season with 54, including eight for a loss. The 6' 1" linebacker came to UM from Palm Bay High School in Melbourne.

Golden released a statement about Buchanan's arrest to the Palm Beach Post, which first reported on the player's suspension: ""We are aware of Ramon's situation and we are disappointed. This is out of character for a young man who has been a positive influence in our program. He is contrite and apologetic for the situation and is currently taking the appropriate actions towards resolution."

Golden's squad has already had a rough start off the field. Six other players will miss the first game of the year, including star recruit Seantrell Henderson, for "undisclosed violations." Golden hasn't commented on those suspensions.

Buchanan is due in court for arraignment on April 18.
