Getting your hair cut is an intimate experience, and finding a new stylist is like meeting a new sexual partner. You have to find out if you're compatible. If they're worth the cost and risk. You wear your hair on your head every single day, so whomever is manhandling it better know how to handle a pair of scissors.
With upcoming hair fashion show Pale Primates, Snip Salon will put you at ease, and have you kicking back and letting the cutting begin. Snip stylists Solange Sarria and Abeah Hunter are organizing a full-on fashion extravaganza to showcase the talents of the salon's staff. Sarria says one of the purposes of the affair is to "offer more awareness that we're there," on the beach. She says, "We have a very strong creative team." And, the proof is, as they say, in the Pale Primate pudding.
This Saturday, the salon will host a Victorian and tribal inspired fashion show for hair. Models will do a choreographed walk-through of the space to music, standing on pedestals for photographs. All hairstyles will be like sculptures, picked up, and according to Sarria, "multi-dimensional, textured, and intricate." So you can expect puffy and braided, not flowing and untamed. There's going to be, she notes, "a primitive element." Tribal shapes in pale colors will adorn the models' bodies. The women will wear Victorian blouses and loin cloths, and the dudes'll be in all of their bare-chested glory -- yet another good reason to attend.
They've got the best in Miami music with DJ Benton. "I've been a fan of Benton's DJ skills for years now. I think he always has a variety of eclectic music within any variety of genres," Sarria says, "He's good at reading crowds and keeping the momentum within the party." So, there'll be little downtime to do anything else but enjoy the 'dos.
Katrina Toimil and Sarah Attias be styling the clothing while Jude Andam-Martinez, Mariana Pineda, and the salon's receptionist Stephanie Clavijo will be in charge of makeup. After the coiffing, ladies will drink free at The Well next door from 10 p.m. to midnight, a lavish and beautiful venue where anyone feels like a Victorian princess.
The event takes place on March 31 at 7 p.m. There's no cover and there will be a raffle for complimentary hair service upon registration. The event takes place at The Well, 444 41 Street, Miami Beach. Snip is located at 456 Arthur Godfrey Road, Miami Beach.
