Who cares about May flowers when it's time for Sapphic sisters to rejoice? Once again, bisexual, transgender, and lesbian women get to indulge their baser natures with the arrival of Aqua Girl.

Organized by the Aqua Foundation for Women, Aqua Girl offers five days' worth of events for women who love women. You get to enjoy 14 culturally diverse, deliciously dyke-y festivities such as dance parties, stand-up comedy, film, pool parties, a tea dance, and a brunch.

And you also get to feel good about yourself -- and not just because you hooked up with that cute boi in the Diesel jeans and wifebeater. All of the proceeds from Aqua Girl go to the foundation, which serves as a "funding catalyst for lesbian, bisexual, and transgender wellness and equality in South Florida through grants, scholarships and initiatives." Sounds good to us -- and the myriad women from around the globe that make it to South Beach each and every year to enjoy five days of female solidarity (and hook-ups).

Check out this year's best Aqua Girl events after the jump.

Film
Indulge your inner cinephile (as well as your inner lush) tonight, as Aqua Girl teams up with the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival to present the MGLFF Film Spotlight and After-party. After watching A Perfect Ending at the Colony Theater, join other film lovers at the Shore Club for an after party where your ticket earns you a free cocktail.

Pool Parties
Aqua Girl's pool parties are notoriously good fun. This year you have the Splash Pool Party and The Beach House, both taking place at the Surfcomber Hotel. Join oodles of women going out of their way to get wet. Boogie to killer mixes spun by hot DJs (including lesbian superstar icon Tracy Young), splash around in the pool, lounge around in the sun, or hang out in one of the rooftop VIP areas.

Food
On Saturday, the "foodinista" in you can sample some of the finest wines and cheeses from Whole Foods while mingling with like-minded women at Sip and Savor Wine & Cheese Reception. After you've worked up an appetite, enjoy dinner at BLT Steak.

>If your inner foodie is still craving some culinary delights, the Brunch Serenade at Hotel Victor on Sunday will quench your hunger and your thirst. Mix and mingle as you enjoy food, music, and complimentary Bloody Marys with new friends (and quite possibly the fellow foodie you met the night before).

Tea Dance
All LGBT people know that it just ain't a gay event without a tea dance. Bring your best boyfriend to the Catalina for some co-ed collusion at the Aqualicious Tea Dance for the perfect Sunday afternoon party. You can both celebrate that you were, indeed, born this way.

Dance Parties
Traffic Jam, Aqua Girl's kick-off dance party, makes it easy to find your flavor on Thursday evening. Women at Dream will be wearing colored glow necklaces symbolizing their availability. Red means taken, yellow means approach with caution, and green means, "go for it, baby." If you enjoy gobbling up eye candy -- and who doesn't? -- feast your eyes on the scantily dressed go-go girls who will be "working the traffic" all night long.

For all you Latinas and the women who love them, Havana Nights offers a dance party with a Salsa-flavored soundtrack this Friday. Dykes descend on Nikki Beach to enjoy a tropical infused evening featuring percussionists, VIP gardens, live entertainment, and celebrity hosts. (We're hoping for Sofia Vergara. Just saying.)

Call it "Lesbian Ultra" if you will, but Odyssey features more than just house, hip hop, and dance music. Ex-candy kids can once again trip the lights fantastic at Grand Central this Saturday with an optical extravaganza of lights and visuals. Plus, cast members from The Real L World will be hosting.

All good things must come to an end (or so our exes keep telling us), and there is only one way to bring the almost week-long celebration to a close on Sunday. Dance like nobody's watching at After Glow, Aqua Girl's official closing party at Score, featuring dance, electro, freestyle, and Miami Bass.

Single event ticket prices vary. Multiple event passes are available from $65 to $579. Call 305-576-2782 or visit aquagirl.org.
