It's tough to be a dog. You have to stay home and lick your nether region while your humans go to restaurants, the gym, the mall -- all sorts of fun places where you just aren't welcome. So you'll just go back to licking yourself and gazing with sad brown eyes, telegraphing your doggy doldrums.

Luckily for you, tomorrow is Doggy Fest at Bayfront Park, the perfect cure for your blues.

The daylong celebration of all things canine is open to fur-babies of all shapes and sizes. A full lineup of pooch-perfect events awaits. There's a dog-and-owner lookalike contest (which this baby will probably win), obstacle courses, and other fun stuff.

"In the Miami area, there's not anything like this event, but there are so many dog lovers! So Duquesa Promotions decided to put this event on," says event spokesperson Michelle Fonticiella. "We're going to have pet adoptions onsite; we'll have contests, obstacle courses, vendor booths, a doggie fashion show, live music, live entertainment. There's a lot going on."

If you haven't yet adopted your furriest of furry friends, don't worry. There'll be plenty of adorable adoptables from organizations like Friends Forever Rescue, No Paws Left Behind, the Humane Society of Greater Miami, and the South Florida Retired K-9 Fund.

There will also be contests for cutest and ugliest dogs. Awesome prizes for the contests and raffles include fancy pet swag, LASIK eye surgery (human, not canine), doggie daycare, and spa certificates. There will also be food trucks for humans and canine-friendly treats for dogs too picky for food-truck leftovers.

All well-behaved dogs are welcome. Nobody likes an unruly child -- or canine either. So give your dog the day he's been waiting for. Sit. Stay. Good boy.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday, January 10, at Bayfront Park. Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for kids 11 or younger.
