It's hard out there for a Miami Bravolebrity. The Magic City's Real Housewives franchise is one the Bravo network's newest, launched in 2011 as a rebranding of the failed series Miami Social, and ever since, it's been struggling to achieve the same kind of viewership as more successful series, like ones set in New Jersey and Beverly Hills.
The last season of RHOM ended with two weddings and a spat of catfighting in November. But it doesn't seem to have done the trick. Now, TMZ reports, Bravo execs are once again considering canceling the series.
But Joanna Krupa's not letting that stop her.
TMZ sources say that Krupa's angling to join the cast of one of Bravo's California series, either Beverly Hills or Orange County, in the hopes of becoming the next Bethenny Frankel or NeNe Leakes. Rumor has it that she's been shmoozing with Beverly Hills stars Kyle Richards and Joyce Giraud and O.C. housewife Gretchen Rossi in the hopes of showing Bravo how well she'd fit in.
We can't say we're surprised. It's just like a Miami girl to try to make it in L.A.
More surprising is TMZ's report that "the tone of some internal discussions [at Bravo] is [RHOM] may not return." Miami may not have the tax fraud and evasion drama of New Jersey's Teresa Giudice, or the financial and divorce troubles of Atlanta's Porsha Stewart. But here's what it does have: Lisa Hochstein, the plastic wife of a "boob god" fighting against local government to tear down her own house; Krupa, a model who'll take just about any chance she gets to show off her rockin' body; and the Housewives franchise's most famous face, in the form of Elsa Patton. (Miss you, mama!)
And let's not forget Lea Black, whose husband, Roy Black, will represent Justin Bieber in court after his Miami Beach arrest last week. You know Bravo viewers are going to want to "watch what happens" with all that.
Of course, Miami would almost certainly be better off without a TV show documenting the fabricated lives of a few of its most faaaaah-bulous women, especially with all the new series in the works. HBO's Ballers and FX's Hoke are just a few Miami-based projects in the works -- scripted series by established, talented writers starring real actors. No offense, Krupa, but we'll take that over your expertly sculpted body any day.
