Wearing a long-sleeve dress and wedges wasn't the brightest idea on day one of Swim Week--or day three, four, five, or hell, any day of the year in Miami for that matter. With 85% humidity, even at night, we daydreamed about joining a nudist colony.
Needless to say, we learned our lesson--never, ever leave home without an electric hand fan, kids.
Waiting in the long lines to get into the tents, suppressing our urge to trip the many people trying to cut in front of us, is an annual tradition at Fashion Week. Fortunately, overhearing out-of-towners say things like "Are we in South Beach? George told us to take lots of pictures if we go to South Beach, but I have no idea where we are," made us chuckle and helped to lighten our mood. Sort of.

Models, on the other hand, have it made during Swim Week. Not only are they freakishly tall, toned, and well-proportioned, but they also get paid to wear bathing suits. Watching models strut their taut butts down the runway in barely-there bikinis as we sweated the night away, we dreamed of stripping down to our skivvies ourselves.
Thankfully, Aussie brand Suboo was presenting in the Oasis tent, which is literally located on the beach, sand and all. The refreshing breeze had us oohing and ahhing in relief.
The 28-piece scuba-inspired SS14 collection was very high fashion yet surprisingly wearable. Clean lines, color-blocking, laser-cut designs, and grey cheetah print (although subtle and tasteful) were each fluidly incorporated in the collection.
We loved that the collection featured one-pieces that resembled bodysuits, architectural short-sleeve tops made with a mesh material, and long-sleeve surf tops. Not only are they ideal to wear from lunch to the beach, but also offer normal girls a way of covering up problem areas without looking like grandma.
For those looking to standout from the tired triangle bikini crowd, Suboo had plenty to choose from. One look that that stood out in particular featured an orange short-sleeve top and high-waisted bikini bottom. The nude panels on each side of the bikini bottom are flattering on all body types.
More revealing bikini options featured bandeau tops in teal and lavender. In the cover up department, matching midi-length sarongs and maxi wrap dresses that could be worn out to dinner just as much as to the pool.
Suboo is undoubtedly already one of the winners of Swim Week. Lucky for us, they gave a gift bag to each attendee with plenty of useful free stuff, like Zoya nail polish, Glossybox makeup, and hair products (score!). Unlucky for us, the show was brief, and soon enough, we were back in the trenches for our next show.
