This Art Basel Miami Beach promises to be the most fashionable yet, thanks in no small part to the pending arrival of fashion site Refinery29, which is due to open a Miami satellite next month.
To celebrate, Refinery29 is throwing a fashionista bash at Cafeina in Wynwood on Thursday. The party is presented by Guess? and Motorola. Maybe you'll end up with a new phone and jean shorts with a triangle on the ass!

Refinery29 is one of the most reliable fashion sites, with outposts in New York, Los Angeles, San Fran, and D.C. Recently, the site worked with Miami jewelry designer Nektar de Stagni, giving readers big present with a generous discount on her beautiful goods.
"We're dying to dive into your world of warm-weather fashion and South Beach style," contributor Gabriel Bell wrote of the pending Miami-centric content on the site.
At Refinery29's Basel party on Thursday, DJs Mike Nouveau and Mia Moretti will spin from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Cafeina Wynwood Lounge (297 Northwest 23rd Street, Miami).
The shindig isn't the only fashion industry throw-down coming to Miami during Basel. Here are five others to watch:
NDS at MOCA
The aforementioned Nektar de Stagni is popping up in a different area of town from her Design District store. She'll be displaying her jewelry at MOCA in North Miami. The opening party takes place during the Vanity Fair Tuesday night affair. Dress well, and get invited. The soiree started last night at MOCA (770 NE 125 Street, North Miami), but the store's open all week.
Jeremy Scott pop-up shop
Everyone who's been on a blog before or has opened a fashion magazine knows the brilliant insanity Jeremy Scott can whip up with a few pop culture references. He'll dress you in Mickey Mouse and you'll look cool. Only he can do that. Scott is bringing uberhip to a place that's already filled with pretty good wares, Base on Lincoln Road. The opening will feature free vodka by 42Below and is invite only taking place tonight from 8 to 10:30 p.m. at 939 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach.
Grey Area at Bass Museum of Art
The Bass Museum's art store is expanding during Basel to include artist-designed objects. You can get a preview peek at shopgreyarea.com. There will be works by Miami folks like Martin Oppel, Daniel Arsham, and George Sanchez Calderon, and artists from everywhere else. Maybe you can get an Ed Ruscha or Tracy Emin designed beach towel or crazily architectural shoes by Zaha Hadid. Whatever it is, it's gonna be neat and you can give it away for Christmas. The store's open tonight to December 4 at 2100 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach.
Trey Speegle and body paint
Artist Trey Speegle has worked with fashion giant Stella McCartney in the past, but this week he's in town to kick off his You/Me exhibition at the Hotel Breakwater. The fashion part of the whole affair? He's painting the clothes on models with a body paint-by-numbers at his opening. It'll take place rooftop at the hotel and feature plenty to drink. The party is private, but the exhibition will be up from December 1 to 4 at 940 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach.
Occupy People's Revolution
Don't even act like you didn't watch Whitney Port fumble her way around Manhattan in The City as an intern at People's Revolution. You did, and you idolized Kelly Curtone and recorded Kell on Earth because that bitch is sorta fierce. Designer Mara Hoffman and People's Revolution are hosting a cocktail party with Pulse Contemporary Art Fair. The affair takes place on December 1 at the Mondrian's Sunset Lounge (1100 West Avenue, Miami Beach) from 5 to 7 p.m. Hoffman is launching a limited edition artist collab swimwear series with artists John Newsom, Eddie Martinez, Maya Hayuk, Javier Piñón, and Spencer Tunick, so make sure to be tanned, toned, and ready to buy.
