During our hunt (and it's a hunt) for fashion on the streets
of Miami, we spotted several styles that made our city hold its own. Men were
sharp in 2011, dressing up in fitted pants and blazers, mostly all black with an
additional added accessory like a pair of sunglasses, fedora or the must-have
accessory of the year, the bow tie. The ladies rocked the color
blocking trend with bold colors and accessories for the first half of the year, but when the climate turned hot and humid, Miami kept it easy and stress-free in a romper matched with wedges for
a relaxed and refreshed look in that 96 degree weather. The classic floral
print paired perfectly with stripes but it also went well with solid colors
during the spring and summer.
Round sunglasses and neon yellow jewelry or bags were the
hot accessories, if you found them. Creeper shoes haven't made it yet to Miami, but the
Jeremy Campbell booties were everywhere. Coral was the trending color at the
stores, but it we did not spot an overspill of it on the streets.
As we head into the winter, Miami turns to layering. Most
of us don't have the weather appropriate winter gear to sport when we are hit
with a cold front, so at least keep a scarf (love the J.Crew cashmere wraps) in
your car or bag, it will save you when the weather slightly dips without
notice.
Thanks for everyone who let us capture your styles in 2011.
