T'was the weekend before Christmas, and all through this town,

Miamians planned the best ways to get down.

They clocked out of work a bit early, with cheer,

to rush to see family, or just grab a beer.

No gifts? No problem. We've found for you all

three places to buy 'em that aren't the mall.

When you're done checking out with that hot local clerk,

you can head straight to Jingle Ball to watch Miley twerk,

or O Cinema, SoundScape, or if you feel arty,

there's always that downtown Bookleggers party.

This weekend is killer, so do it up right.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Friday:

Y100 Jingle Ball: Pop goes the season at this annual festival of hitmakers. On the roster this year: Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke, the best/worst duo of 2013.

Ayikodans: This Haitian dance company has made Miami's Arsht Center its second home.

The Summer Side: Antonia San Juan, star of Pedro Almodovar films-turned-director, presents her new film at O Cinema.

Saturday:

Sights & Sounds of the Season: If your snooty New York family's in town, there's no better way to show them how classy and cultured Miami can be than with a symphonic show at SoundScape.

A Nightmare Before XXX-Mas: ...and afterwards, you can ditch those losers and go get spanked by Santa.

Indie Craft Bazaar: Holiday Hooray: Look, if you'd already planned to drive to Aventura to buy your gifts, you might as well just keep on heading north to Revolution, where local craftsters are selling swag you can't get at the Gap.

Booknoggers Holiday Party: It's A Very Christmas Miami Arts Party, complete with Kevin Arrow's "Overhead" exhibit at Dimensions Variable, a live radio broadcast by Patti Hernandez, and of course, a Bookleggers swap.

Toys For Pints: Kids get toys. You get booze. Better that way than, well, vice versa.

Sunday:

Holiday Rock'n'Roll Swap: Screw the mall. At Churchill's, you can swap for those last-minute Christmas gifts.

Urban Apparel: 'Tis the season to make fun of hipsters.
