DMX may be the Marion Barry of the rap game.

Like the former Washington D.C. mayor, Earl "DMX" Simmons has overcome drug charges and prison time to remain a fan favorite in the world of urban entertainment.

He proved it on New Year's Day at LIV when he shared the stage with Lil Wayne, who introduced him as a legend.

Here are some choice quotes and a video via DJ Irie TV.

Lil Wayne: "Tonight is history because I've got a living legend standing behind me. When I saw this nigga, I was like, 'Stop the music and let this mofucka up on stage.' DMX is in this bitch."

DMX: "Yo, yo, uuhh. Ya feel me, ya feel me, ya feel me?"

Lil Wayne: "Listen ... I remember, I remember, when I was 17 years old. I was on the world's biggest hip-hop tour. It was called the Ruff Ryder Cash Money Tour. And we was rockin' that shit. It's good to see you."

DMX: (Guy tries to hand him a giant bottle of Champagne.) "I'm a Lincoln nigga, son. I only drink the Cognac. I only drink the Cognac!"

DMX: "Yeah, nigga! Yeah, nigga! Get it, nigga! Yeah, nigga! Yeah, nigga! Uuuuuhhhhhh! Whaattt, Whaaaattt!!!"

DMX: "Get at me, dog."

Crowd: "Get at me, dog."

DMX: "Get at me, dog."

DMX, Wayne, and the Crowd: "Stop, drop, shut 'em down, open up shop! Woaoah! Woooaah! That's how Ruff Rydaz roll."

Point is, the people still love DMX. Let's see what he does in 2012.
