Every mash ends with a bash, are we right?
If you're Brooklyn Brewery, you'd be inclined to agree, given that your mash was already a weeklong series of beer-themed parties. And what better way to wash down all those hops than with a final blowout featuring none other than New York's own ax-ripping songstress Marnie Stern.
Leading up to this closing shindig at Wynwood's Gramps, Brooklyn Brewery is also hosting a range of Miami events, from evenings of standup comedy to multicourse dinners to beer and butchery classes.

If you've missed a few of these opportunities to get your brew on, have no fear; the fun continues through the week and culminates on Saturday night, headlined by the aforementioned goddess of tech-rock, Ms. Stern herself.

Now, for the unacquainted, Marnie Stern is an NYC native who developed her unique playing style by listening to bands like Hella, U.S. Maple, Television, and King Crimson.
Her lithe guitar patterns and primal punk-rock wailing fill a niche for technical, progressive pop that can appeal to fans of melodic sing-song and insane 13/8 meters alike -- usually in the same tune.
And her first single, 2007's "Every Single Line Means Something," balanced a titanic Zeppelin riff with Stern's measured cooing and unhinged yowling.
Subsequent albums have brought more folds and nuances to her sound. Her latest collection, cleverly titled The Chronicles of Marnia, dropped last March and contains some of her most inspired shredding and genuine hooks yet.
Songs like "Nothing Is Easy," built out of a molten, churning riff, reach real pop immediacy, while Marnie's voice resonates with a newfound confidence and clarity.
Joining Stern on the Gramps stage will be Fort Lauderdale's Killmama, a bluesy duo with a self-described "Stripesesque" sound. Also on the bill are Miami homebrews Kazoots, who balance folksy, Afro-tinged melodies with instrumental chops and punk immediacy, giving lilting songs enough heft for the dance floor.
The show is free, free, free. And there's likely enough Brooklyn booze to go around! So clear up your schedules, and we will see y'all this Saturday night.
