We just can't say enough about Miami's premier son slingers, Conjunto Progreso. They were our pick for Best Latin Band in this year's Best of Miami, and for damn good reason. Combining elements of Latin jazz with straight up Cuban swing, these guys bring the hardcore cubaneo every single time they set foot onstage. And their gigs at Transit are no exception. Quite the contrary. They're epic.
"If you haven't seen Conjunto Progreso at Transit Lounge, then you're missing great energy," says band leader, vocalist and percussionist Johnny Aguiló. "There's this electricity that runs through the place when we play. Sometimes I'm amazed up onstage with the sound and the energy of the crowd and band."
Anyone who's witnessed this band's descargas at the Brickell bar knows he's not kidding.
"This is the place I believe that the band sounds the best," Aguiló adds. "The vibe there is the best. Transit is our favorite place to play."
There's no cover, but you may want to bring a few bills above your drinking money if you haven't picked up their recently released CD Alive In Miami yet. They'll have it on sale at the show.
