And tomorrow, Saheed will be taking his hosting abilities to The Rising Hip-Hop Showcase at Transit Lounge. Not to mention, Saheed has a new EP that he's been promoting. Released independently about a week ago, Take Heed, is an 8-track collection of songs Saheed recorded over the past few months.
The EP is heavy with samples and that "boom-bap" drum sound, thanks to Saheed's stable of hanpicked producers, including Statik Selectah, 1914, OZNY, Numonics, The Psyclones, and Bronze Nazareth.
As far as cameos, Miami's ¡Mayday! makes a guest appearance on "Empathy" while DJ Ashy Knuckles lays a couple cuts and scratches on "Peep Game." Otherwise, Take Heed, is all Saheed. From the slow-paced title track to the more heartfelt "How Can I Explain," he does a great job of just pouring his heart into every minute of mic time. The highlight is definitely "The Ups," a song that we've featured previously on Crossfade. And months after its original release as a single, the song is still as vibrant as ever.
