Steam #2 Promises Bass, Bangers, and Booze at Fox's Sherron Inn Tonight

Everyone's already seen each other horrifically drunk, like, a million times. So unless you're getting folks to dress up like their favorite sun-slash-sex god to compete in an alcoholic sporting event (say beer pong or vodka pole vaulting), you're going to end up with a bunch of bored party guests racking up disgruntled tweets.

Steam, a monthly music hangout sesh at Fox's Sherron Inn, appears to have no theme. But upon closer inspection, it's clear that no theme is the theme. Along with 2-for-1 drinks, and no cover.

The event -- more a music-centric get-together than a raucous party -- is hosted by a trio of DJs from FIU's Radiate FM college station, led by Ryan Morejon, host of the weekly Where Were U in 02 dubstep program.

While wobble-wobble is Morejon's specialty -- and this month's guest, Atta Boy (AKA Jsin Jimenez from Shake/Get Low and Sweat Records) is also of a bass persuasion -- Steam proudly proclaims a no-restrictions policy when it comes to selecting, pairing world music with grunge hits and so on.

Fox's is dark, reasonably seedy without being dirty or gross, and provides the perfect venue for hanging out, throwing back two drinks for the price of one, and trying to figure out how the DJ went from Minor Threat to Prince and back again.

Steam #2 with Atta Boy, Two Way, JCTM, and Honey Mustard. Tuesday, July 12. Fox's Sherron Inn, 6030 S. Dixie Hwy., South Miami. The party starts at 11 p.m. and there is no cover. Call 305-666-2230.
