Behind every stadium pop star is a king-size producer, and behind every king-size producer, you got the secret weapon: the "mixing engineer." Most people can't name one mixing engineer, let alone explain what they do. But that will change this Friday when the Red Bull Music Academy features Marcella Araica, also known as "Ms. Lago," in a free event at the Gansevoort South.

This 28-year-old beauty has worked with some of today's biggest recording artists -- names such as Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Usher, and so on. Billboard chart toppers like Spears' "Gimme More" and Madonna's "4 Minutes" all have been tweaked and touched by Ms. Lago, and it's no surprise she's one of the most sought-after in-studio mixers in the industry today. And of course, she's representing females! When was the last time you saw a smoking hot studio vixen behind a mixing board getting dirty?

Part of their ongoing Miami workshop series, with this event the Red Bull Music Academy is just giving you a taste of what one would experience at the full two-week international Red Bull Music Academy conference that's being held in London next year. Applications are now being accepted for this prestigious meeting of the music minds, so visit redbullmusicacademy.com to apply.

RSVP is strongly encouraged to attend this free public workshop where Ms. Lago will share her career history as well as do some hands-on demonstration of what makes a good mix versus a great mix. This event starts at 7:30 p.m. For more information or to RSVP, email [email protected].
