Jukebox Hero

Cat Power turns on the Jukebox January 22. The mostly covers album (and bonus disc) will include a bit of everything from Hank Williams to the Hot Boys. Here’s the tracklisting. For those of you hoping for her rendition of “Hanging on the Telephone” from the Cingular ads, you’re out of luck. Then again, considering how sick I am of Feist’s Apple commercials, maybe that’s not such a bad thing. Download “Song to Bobby,” a Cat Power original from the upcoming LP, thanks to Brooklyn Vegan.

Unraveled

RadioheadThere’s been no shortage of Radiohead news lately. The band streamed a couple of live Web casts from the studio last week. If you missed it, head to Pitchfork for the play-by-play, or just grab the best parts to go.

Lupe Fiasco

Cool Runnings

Windy City rapper Lupe Fiasco is hoping for another Grammy nomination with his sophomore effort, The Cool (which confusingly enough, is also a song title from his debut). Due December 18, the album will include fellow rappers Gemini and Snoop Dog as well as guest production from DJ Premier and Kanye West. Here are videos for the first two singles, “Superstar” and “Dumb it Down.”

My Evil Twin

Why?Probably the most accessible acts on the Anticon roster, Why?, is releasing its follow-up to 2005’s Elephant Eyelash in March. “The Hollows” is the first single from Alopecia, and it sounds like a sinister version of They Might Be Giants. A 12-inch vinyl limited to 1,000 pressings will be released later this month. Grab a couple of tracks below, thanks to Stereogum and Gorilla vs. Bear.

Why? -- “By Torpedo or Crohn’s (Dntel Remix)” MP3

Binary Star

Gutter TwinsAfghan Whigs/Twilight Singers fans got a bit of good news over the weekend. Greg Dulli and Mark Lanegan’s brainchild, the Gutter Twins, posted this long-awaited announcement:

Saturnalia by the Gutter Twins will be released March 4, 2008 on Sub Pop. Details to follow…the sky becoming clearer.”

Until then, head here to stream the Twilight Singers covering Jose Gonzalez’s “Down the Line.”
