Chocolate is often associated with people eating their feelings, like maybe drowning your sorrows in Dove minis while watching a Golden Girls marathon. Though that sounds like a kick-ass weekend, the International Chocolate Festival at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden (10901 Old Cutler Rd., Coral Gables) gives Miamians the chance to gorge on chocolatey goodness without the shame.
Celebrating its eighth year, the festival features three days of sweet events Friday through Sunday. Participants can enjoy food demonstrations by master chocolatiers, lectures by local chefs and chocolate experts, and samples of treats such as pecan chocolate truffles with smoked salt and chocolate avocado mousse. Fairchild also offers two yoga classes, cacao plant sales, and a chocolate-inspired poetry reading.
