No, the latest dance performance to hit Miami isn’t a modern interpretation of an episode of Lost. But Water’s Edge, the Long Walk: Stories of the Seashore does evoke a sense of mystery and timelessness, when seven people meet on an anonymous beach and their stories and lives unfold in Dance Now! Miami’s season opener. Are these dancers really one? Are they from the same era? Or are they simply telling tales that are universal? Performed by the resident dance company at the Little Haiti Cultural Center (212 NE 59th Ter., Miami), this company premiere from codirector Hannah Baumgarten won’t be dark like the aforementioned TV program, and it’ll incorporate cinematic touches such as transforming the stage into a beach, including an elaborate lighting scheme and soundscape to complete the effect. This is the second part of the “Il Mare” series, which will be performed in its entirety in February. Also part of the program will be Nocturnus, a premiere from the other founding director, Diego Salterini. It’s set to music by Beethoven and Debussy.
