Sometimes, drinkers want cocktails with class. Sometimes, they want to taste hints of smoke and pepper instead of watery ice and shame. Dignity and drunkenness don’t often go hand-in-hand in Miami, but thanks to an upcoming spirits festival, we can attempt to hold our heads high.
The inaugural Craft Spirits Festival will bring a weeklong series of events to venues across Miami, including happy hours, parties, tours, guest mixologists, VIP-only events, and educational seminars. Coconut Grove’s Cruz Building (3157 Commodore Plaza, Coconut Grove) will be home to the festival’s Grand Celebration this Thursday.
The Grand Celebration will showcase craft, small-batch, and artisanal producers of whiskies, rums, vodkas, and other distinct spirits and beverages. More than 20 distillers will exhibit more than 100 distinct spirits. Attendees will be able to enjoy unlimited samples of spirits plus hors d’oeuvres.
The Grove event also will host the beverage and industry trade prior to access by the public. Additionally, liquor store owners, food and beverage managers, mixologists, bartenders, and other spirits professionals will be invited to attend.
