In contrast to the White Stripes’ siblings-or-lovers mystery, He’s My Brother She’s My Sister advertises its kinship right up front. Led by singing brother and sister Rob and Rachel Kolar, the band also includes a cellist, an upright bassist, a slide guitarist, and even a tap-dancing percussionist. They brought their vaudevillian show to Culture Room last year while touring with Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros. As openers, they displayed more flamboyant swing than the Zeros’ dreamy neo-psychedelic folk.
He’s My Brother She’s My Sister returns to South Florida with a Saturday show at the Vagabond. Their foot-stomping and jangling sing-alongs will likely stand out in synth-happy Miami. And with several members active in the experimental theater scene in L.A., the band certainly knows how to put on an entertaining show — without relying too much on gimmick. The night will also feature Back Door Bamby’s Notorious Sex Kittens and Naughty Misfits, as well as resident DJs Ray Milian, Ryan Evans, and Carmel Ophir. Plus there will be barbecue in the garden.
